Wide Body Report - August 16, 2016

August 16, 2016

Boeing expects to decide within the next two months whether further cuts will need to be made to its 777 production line.  Production was already scheduled to be cut from 100 aircraft annually to 84 aircraft annually in 2017.

Boeing officials have signalled that they have no intention of increasing production of the 787 Dreamliner at this time.  Some market analysts had previously suggested that Boeing might consider increasing the 787 production rate, to offset reduced demand and production for the 777 airliner.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has opened an investigation into an engine shut-down incident involving a Jetstar Airways Boeing 787-8.

Ethiopian Airlines has begun service with the A350-900 on its London Heathrow to Addis Ababa route.

Singapore Airlines has inaugurated service to Melbourne with the A350 for the first time.
