Book Review: The Shield of David: Israel Air Force Into the 1990s

Samuel M. Katz
The Shield of David: Israel Air Force Into the 1990s
Hong Kong: Concord Publications Company, 1994
Category: Israel Air Force - Photo Gallery

Rating: 2-Stars

This is another of those books that falls into the category of photo-essay, and not necessarily the most brilliant collection at that.  Of the 86 pages of this book, the first seven are devoted to an introductory text, and the balance are a collection of color and black-and-white photographs portraying Israel's order of battle during the 1990s.

As I've noted elsewhere before, Samuel Katz has written a number of excellent books chronicling Israel's combat elite, including Fire & Steel (the story of Israel's 7th Armored Brigade) and The Night Raiders (the story of Israel's naval commando unit) - which I could recommend as being both insightful and well written.  Unfortunately, this particular book is not among them.
