The engine failure aboard an American Airlines' Boeing 767 last month has been tied to cracks in an HPT turbine disk.  The NTSB has confirmed that fatigue cracks have been found in the 2nd-stage CF6-80 turbine disk, indicating that the crack had initiated prior to the failure event, and that the cracks had been propagating.
