The first Airbus A350-1000 prototype made its first flight on Thursday November 24th.  The stretched version of the A350, featuring an all-new wing and higher-thrust engines, is expected to compete head-to-head with the Boeing 777.

The World Trade Organization has ruled that a Washington state tax break amounts to an illegal subsidy for Boeing's 777X airline, which is still under development.

Vietnam Airlines has taken delivery of its 10th Boeing 787 Dreamliner.  The airline has nine more 787s on order, with all aircraft powered by General Electric GEnx-1B engines.

A United Airlines Boeing 747-400 en route to Japan aborted its flight shortly after take-off, after reporting a compressor stall in its number two engine.  The airplane was equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW4062 engines.
