The F-35 continues to be the subject of controversy. New reports have revealed that during the operational readiness trials conducted by the USMC in May - which were used to certify the F-35B's Initial Operational Capability (IOC) - none of the aircraft were flown with either bombs or missiles.

A delegation from France has arrived in India to try and close the gaps remaining with the Indian government, for the sale of 36 Rafale fighters. The sale was agreed to in principal in July, but contract negotiations have continued to drag on in the months since.

Russian aircraft have begun launching raids on sites in Syria - although it is unclear as to whether the air strikes are targeted against ISIL, or against other opponents of the Assad regime. The air strikes come after the U.S. reportedly "warned" Russia not to strike targets in Syria other than ISIL (Islamic State in the Levant).
