Wide Body Report - May 2, 2017

May 2, 2017

A total of 25 passengers were injured when an Aeroflot Boeing 777 ran into clear air turbulence near Bankok.

Iran Air has missed an opportunity to take early delivery of its first Boeing 777-300ER after Turkish Airlines, the original customer for the aircraft, refused the proposed delivery swap.  Turkish Airlines had previously deferred delivery of the aircraft, due to lower than expected passenger volumes.  Boeing still plans to deliver its initial batch of airplanes to Iran, however, early next year - as part of an 80 aircraft order comprising a variety of aircraft models.

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has finalized arrangements for delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 in April 2018.

Oman Air has taken delivery of its sixth Boeing 787-9, the second to be delivered in 2017.

Airbus has closed a deal with China Southern for 20 A350-900 aircraft.  First deliveries are scheduled for 2019.
